Bouillon! is reading and eating
Cultural gastronomic magazine Bouillon! is a exciting, informative and heart-warming Dutch e-magazine about eating and drinking. It's about chefs, ingredients, traditional farmers; food in history, film, literature and music; interesting interviews with foodwriters and philosophers and lots and lots of culinary stories. Every three months there are new contributions and reports. Always with good photography and illustrations.

In Holland Bouillon has become a highly appreciated culinary magazine. Reactions are mostly very enthusiastic. When we show our magazine to foreigners, they understand the purpose and the message although they aren't able to read Dutch. That's why, after five years, we want to expand and present our English version to the world. Maybe a hard copy will follow within the near future, it all depends on the reactions this e-magazine will get.

Why a cultural gastronomical magazine? Haven't we already got enough glossy's about eatery and wines? Yes, maybe we do, but none of them are like Bouillon! We edit a magazine that mixes serious articles and essays with humorous observations. Eating and drinking are the fundaments of life, they mean energy, fun and pleasure and they are a social vehicle. I often visit restaurants to talk with the people of the kitchen and the service. The most fun is watching them at work. Don't say a word, just watch and try to understand what they are doing. Or be out and about with chefs and sommeliers. Visit their suppliers and their secret addresses for wine, fish, game and vegetables. A fascinating world. And outside the branch there is a lot of people that have their own view on food. They know about the central role of eating an drinking. About the fear for obesities, the hunger in the world and the wars for water that are to break out. Politicians and philosophers talk about it.

And precisely that is what you'll find in Bouillon! Stories about food in their broad cultural setting. It's fun to read about. With a glass of nice wine at hand, on the beach, in train or plane, summer or winter, Bouillon! fills mind and heart.
